Of course, depending on your likes, interests & motives on Twitter the people you consider ‘celebrities’ and the people others do will differ… but there are some people who have reached this coveted position of Twitter celebrity by their sheer Twitter influence & mass appeal. Agents of influence that span across the Twitterverse who are fun & informative for anyone to follow.

Add these celebrities on Twitter as friends or put them on special lists the new option Twitter gives you to keep track of micro-groups within the people you follow.

Wil Wheaton – blogger, writer, actor & all around fun guy to follow. With a whopping 1,456,000+ followers you know he’s gotta be saying something good.
The (fake) Chuck Norris – this is someone who only tweets Chuck Norris quotes, need I say more? Example: Chuck Norris played russian roulette with a loaded gun and won.
Dr Tiki – his site TikiBarTV.com is weird, funny & hilarious. Very geeky for those of you who are nerdy like I.
KevinRose – founder of Digg.com and an all around cool person to follow if you like tech news, entrepreneurship & keeping up with someone who is a bonafide cewebrity
Mark Cuban – uber entrepreneur, owner of the Dallas Mavericks & interesting person to follow & to be inspired by.
iJustine – One of my personal favorites, blond, bubbly, makes lots of videos & adores Apple.
Jet Blue – They offer specials, freebies & all sorts of insider goodies for just following them. Do it & you may grab another $600 all you can fly special like they offered a few months ago.
Adventure Girl – She travels all over, she blogs, she’ll make you jealous with her awesome adventures & inspire you to get off your duff and see some of the world yourself.
Funny or Die – because they are funny… or you die.
Someecards – if Hallmark & Steven Wright had a greeting card child.

Why is Twitter better on a MAC? Well maybe I’m biased (I am) but both Apple & Twitter have positioned themselves as such revolutionaries in the world of technology and new media that it only follows the two form a beautiful union together.

Firstly look at the iPhone, a plethora of applications abound to help you connect more seamlessly with Twitter. Over 29 iPhone apps for Twitter are compared on Mashable here and those aren’t even all of them! Can the Storm 2 offer you 29+ ways to Tweet from your phone?

Secondly if your on Twitter and have a MAC you can use Twitterrific from IconFactory, an application that runs of your desktop so you never have to be more than a click away from updating your Twitter stats.

Thirdly, look at the celebrities on Twitter, a whole heck of a lot of them are MAC addicts. Check out iJustine who does a series of video shoots in various Apple stores all over the country. She’s gotten famous just by loving Twitter & MAC.

What is Twitter and How does it work? Twitter 101

Some of you may be laughing, or scoffing… why title a blog post something so, so byzantine considering most of the civilized world knows the answer to What is Twitter and how does it work? But if you know anything about keyword optimization within blogs or have gotten out in the real world lately you’ll realize actually that’s wrong. The vast majority of the world, especially those of the middle age variety and up don’t know what twitter is and much less know how it works. They think its a bird, a plane, maybe even Superman but they don’t know what the micro-blogging service is or realize the incredibly long grasp it has over the social media community.

I wrote a post on what twitter does and how it works on my other blog and surprisingly people thanked me, because many didn’t realize Twitter’s abilities or how it could be used in their lives. So I thought I may give a brief description & bullet style break of exactly what is Twitter and how it works.

Twitter is micro communication. If you can’t censor your thoughts or ideas (called tweets) into 140 character bite or less then don’t bother. But if you like people getting to the point & little tid bits on info and updates delivered in a lovely, bite sized variation then check Twitter out.
Twitter can be used to network, make friends or even find love (i guess?). Actually right after I typed the previous sentence I googled Twitter Dating and found out about Flirt140 a Twitter based site that does actually allow you to find love (or stalkers) through Twitter. But if you don’t want 140 character love notes you can find friends & colleagues through using Twitter’s search option.
Twitter works likes this: Get a free account > upload a picture of yourself (not a supermodel or a your cat, yourself) > write something about your day, a interesting article you found online or a tip on anything & press enter. Look, you’ve just tweeted.

This is Twitter 101 people, refer this article to your friends who laugh at you for being on Twitter or to your great aunt Ethel who you think has a lot to tweet about or would just like the company. Twitter, used right, can be a great tool to build relationships, forge friendships and expand your reach from local to global. Use it right and reap benefits!

3 Top Twips on Creating a Killer Twitter Presence

What is the difference between the Top Twits & the tweeting masses? Well besides one has gobs of followers and the other has none… its the tweets man, the tweets.

So what can you do to make killer Tweets that will bring other Twits a clamoring for more? Well firstly try to make it not about you… People love themselves. This means that probably you also love yourself, but fight that urge in the new media age, try instead to make your twittering about & applicable to others in the Twitterverse. One good way to do this is to ask a question. This opens the lines of communication between you and your followers and helps you decipher between the Twits who are just driors and the Twitterers who are there to interact with others.

Once you ask a few questions and start getting an idea of who responds and which followers are good at interacting be sure to put them on a separate list. You can use Twitter’s lists or ones formed on Hootsuite or Tweetdeck. This separate list should be kept so you can keep track of this sub-group of followers who are very active and be sure to keep in touch with them through DMs, or @’s weekly. This is the building blocks to take a relationship began on Twitter into the real, whether it be networking, friendship or more.

Backgrounds are important too. Your Twitter background should be an extension of who you are in social media. I recommend to my new media consulting clients that they keep their social media identities congruent with each other. So if your blog is designed a certain way try to make that flow with your facebook fan page and Twitter design. Using the same picture via several social media sites like FourSquare, Twitter & beyond is very helpful as well. Because as people start seeing you in more and more places their ‘bond’ with you becomes stronger, which is the whole point behind networking & socializing. So if you can get someone to design a unique Twitter background for you, or do it yourself, even a picture you took yourself that has something to do with your persona is better than a generic thing branded with a www.twitterbackgrounds.com logo.

The last thing I’ll say on Killer Tweeting & equally radical Twits is keep it short & sweet. Your bound to 140 characters for a reason, so don’t try to get around this by posting multiple tweets that follow almost a story line of sorts or send out a Tweet once every 10 minutes. It gets old, even to your most fervent fan and the chances people will unfollow you goes through the roof. Along that say lines don’t use automated DMs for goodness sake, its tooly, that is the only way to describe it. So don’t be a Twool! << yeah I made that awful joke!

The Me Mentality | Who is on Twiter

People often ask me who is on Twitter that makes it so important that they should be. First the answer is, a lot more people than you think. The President has a Twitter account, so do celebrities, corporations like Starbucks & house wives. Its like the best thing to hit networking since the Elk’s club. Without the creepy antler hats.

Even if you barely have any idea what a Tweet is its still important that you learn. This new media age is upon us and people will either convert or get left behind. I know it sounds harsh but look at the telephone? Or the internet or any other modern technology. Many people dug in their heals for a long while, but finally they conceded. So why put up the fight, instead whether your 17 or 77 take some time out to learn a little bit about social media, especially Twitter and why its a great resource for both business and personal relationships.

Firstly, consider this, what is the world based on? Relationships is the framework of our civilization. Without them we wouldn’t have governments, families or a way to reproduce, Twitter, like social media giants before them, bring the networking aspect of relationships into our homes & lives in a very simple way. We can reach out to those all over the world that share similar interests and develop lines of communication with people we’d never meet in person.

Something important thing about who is on Twitter and why it should be important to you is to think beyond yourself. Just don’t go on Twitter & broadcast your message. A great TwiTip on The Art of Influence talks about this very thing. People too often go on Twitter just to spread their message, their thoughts without realizing that it is a back and forth. You must give & get in the world of Tweeting. Don’t expect anyone to listen to you if you don’t listen back. Respond to DMs you get and be sure to find conversations to add to throughout your Twittering.

Even though in the future Twitter may be over taken by another social media presence its still good to get into the flow of the new media age, because it isn’t really going anywhere. We are sharing smaller bits of information (140 character Tweets) with many, many more people. So each word we share must have meaning. So tweet with your heart & use Twitter to both give and receive. Its good Twitter karma

Celebrities on Twitter | Who is on Twitter

One of the main reasons people join Twitter is because of the sheer volume of their friends, coworkers & idols who are on it. Its the ’stand in a line because everyone else in mentality’ but heck, its working! I did it. I kept hearing about Twitter & at first thought it was silly… but finally my curiosity peeked & *wham* I was addicted. Now I need a Twittervention!

Anyways, so who really is on Twitter? Celebrities, business people, politicians, Oprah, authors, artists and many others… here is a list of the interesting and unique “celebrities” (i use the word loosely) and non-celebs who fill the Twitterverse with Twitter juice and throw their Twitter weight around

@wossy calls himself the #1 twitter detective, I don’t know what that means but he has nearly 450k followers so he must be doing something right. He is a comedian & TV personality.. but who isn’t?
@MChammer does there need to be more explanation than the simple words… Hammer time? Now I’m starting to sing it…
@britneyspears how does this happen? In an intelligent society, how does someone who tweets: Viva Las Vegas Baby! My tix are at the park where the water is crossed! Hope I get to see you tonight! What does that even mean? Anyone! WTF does she have 3.5 million followers? No offense Britney.
@mashable Pete Cashmore, the CEO of mashable.com is a celebrity Twit I can get behind, because he created an awesome site so why wouldn’t he have 1,643,806 followers? He provides info and interesting articles to the masses.
@shannonseek is one of my favs, she writes nice, soft, fluffy things about love, music & the world being happy. Her tweets are very easy on the ears

Alright… I know that was a short celebrities on twitter list but seeing all these people with so many followers made me jealous and now I’m going to go off and try to be interesting enough to become a Twitter celebrity too!
